With temps hovering around -20˚F, this morning provided perfect conditions to photograph the setting Wolf Moon and celebrate Alaska's 67th anniversary of statehood.
Cheers to 67 years!

Post-eclipse moonset image taken this morning...
These cold temps make for clear skies and a beautiful, frozen landscape. Hopefully some of you caught the lunar eclipse last night and if not, perhaps saw the moon setting in all its glory today.
Have a great weekend and thank you for following!

Good morning and Merry Christmas (Eve) from Eagle River Valley, Alaska! May your holidays be filled with love and light. As always, thank you for following along.

"Counting stars by candlelight, all are dim but one is bright;
The spiral light of Venus, rising first and shining best,
On, from the northwest corner, of a brand new crescent moon,
While crickets and cicadas sing, a rare and different tune,
Terrapin station." (Robert Hunter/Jerry Garcia)
This was taken just a few minutes ago over Eagle Peak, Chugach State Park. If you have clear skies right now you should be able to see the crescent moon and Venus on the southwestern horizon.

Did anyone else catch that brilliant moonset this morning? With only one week until Winter Solstice, we are experiencing the shortest days of the year. Some dread this season but I truly enjoy the calmness it brings and the low angle light. This was taken around 9:45 am.
