Kirkjufell Rainbow

Kirkjufell, Iceland's most famous/photographed mountain, under a heavy wind & rainstorm last summer...

Great news - Iceland recently lifted its Covid travel restrictions! Visitors are no longer required to test prior entry or show proof of vaccination. We are optimistic that things will continue trending in the right direction and we now have 6 people confirmed for the August 2022 Iceland tour with Nat Expo Tours, LLC. If you or anyone you know is interested in visiting Iceland this summer, visit our website for more details or message us if you have any questions. Dates are Aug. 13-22 and we are still offering early-booking discounts: www.natexpotours.com

Takk 🇮🇸!

Double Rainbow, July 2020

For all the challenges that 2020 brought, it was also the year of double rainbows here at the Eagle River Nature Center. I captured a number of nice images that summer and this one was in use last year by AT&T Alascom on their 2021 poster calendar. I've now added it to my website and online store, available on canvas, metal, and high-gloss photo paper

Wishing you all double rainbows in the year ahead...

Colin

Eye of the Storm

I returned from Iceland early yesterday and have a lot of images & videos to edit, so there will be much to share in the coming days/weeks. I'm happy we were able to fill two tours to near 100% capacity despite the challenges of international travel right now, and even more satisfied that our guests all had a fun and exciting tour. We had extremes in weather, from high wind & horizontal rain to some of the nicest days I have ever experienced in Iceland, where temps surpassed 70˚F and the fjords were like glass, and I was reminded that you often find the best light during inclement weather, if you're on the edge of the storm or standing in the eye.

As always, thank you for following along.

Takk!

Colin

2020 Themes

If 2020 had any overriding themes for my photography I'd say it was owls, rainbows, and lynx, in that order. While it's been a challenging year in many ways, I am grateful for the opportunities I found in my backyard and look forward to what 2021 will bring.

I am hopeful that travel will resume before too long and while it's not likely that I will be leading another tour in Cuba this winter, I am looking to return in February of 2022. Michael L Haring and I have two tours scheduled for Iceland this coming August, both of which are already half full. For more information on the tours and to sign up for our e-newsletter, please visit our new website: https://naturalexposurestours.com/. We will also be launching a Facebook page for Natural Exposures Photography Tours, LLC, which I will announce in the near future.

Have a great weekend out there and, as always, thank you for following my adventures!

Double Rainbow!

We got a bit of rain in Eagle River Valley last night. It didn't do much to saturate the ground but it was enough to create a double rainbow and add to a spectacular late evening light show!

Hope you enjoy and as always, thank you for following along and feel free to share my site with your friends.

Eagle River Rainbow

If you were driving north on the Glenn Highway yesterday afternoon, your commute may have been a bit more magical. Judging from this week's weather forecast, there should be plenty more “magic” (rain) in the days ahead...

Have a great Wednesday out there and thanks for riding along!
