In October of 2021 I made my first trip to Africa to plan out the October 2022 Namibia tour with Nat Expo Tours. I met my business partner, Mike Haring, and mutual friend & photographer, Craig Moore, for 17 days in this austere and inspiring land.
In July of 2018 I made a very spontaneous trip to the Big Island of Hawaii to witness and photograph the historic eruption of Kilauea Volcano. I was able to get on a sunrise boat tour to the lava ocean entry as well as a doors-off helicopter tour over the the affected area in the Lower Puna District. It’s tough to describe what it’s like looking down at a rushing, turbulent river of molten lava; hopefully my images do it some justice. Mahalo to Kalapana Cultural Tours and Paradise Helicopters for these incredible opportunities. Most of all, best wishes to all those who have lost their homes or livelihoods due to this powerful and destructive force of nature. My goal was to document this event in a respectful manner.
In September of 2018 I visited Iceland for the first time. It was a short trip to explore and eventually lead photography tours to this stunning Nordic island. See also: Iceland 2019.

August 2021 marked my third trip to Iceland and my first leading tours with Nat Expo Tours. We led two groups of people (18 total) and were able to witness the Fagradalsfjall Volcano as it was erupting. It was truly remarkable! We have another Iceland tour scheduled for August 2022.
In February of 2018 I made my first trip to Cuba. From the classic cars to the people and street scenes, los perros y gatos (dogs & cats) and even a few selfies and group pics, this is my compilation, my tribute to Cuba and the wonderful people who welcomed me with open arms. See also: Cuba 2019.

"You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one." On the sidewalk at the John Lennon Statue, Havana.
We brought soccer balls to give out to children in the countryside. We frequently encountered groups of kids playing soccer with a tattered ball, so we would stop with a new ball and kick it around with them for a bit before leaving on our way.

At more than 160 meters, Vegas Grandes is Cuba's tallest waterfall.
Ernest Hemingway has a permanent Seat at his favorite bar in Havana.
Here is a time-lapse video I created of the sunset on the beach near Trinidad, Cuba - 700 still images and approximatley 40 minutes condensed into 30 seconds.
Shortly after arriving from an overnight flight and dropping my bags at la casa, I hit the streets to experience Havana - exploring, wandering, getting lost and soaking up the Cuban vibe. By the end of the week it was apparent how I could walk the streets and navigate traffic more easily and with greater confidence, and communicate with people more effectively; expanding my Spanish vocabulary in the short time I was there. In all honesty, I have not been this inspired and immersed in a foreign culture since I traveled to India more than four years ago.
In February of 2019 I returned to Cuba to lead two photo tours. Here are a few of the images from my time there. See also: Cuba 2018.

In February of 2020 I made my third trip to Cuba; my second year leading photo tours. I plan to resume tours when we are able to visit again.
In November of 2016 I traveled to Australia for the first time. I flew to Sydney, rented a camper van and drove to Jervis Bay, Wilson's Promontory, The Great Ocean Road, Kangaroo Island and the Outback. In all, I drove 6,000 kilometers (3,600 miles), exploring a new part of the world living out of the van for three weeks. It was a truly wonderful journey. I have every intention of returning to Australia to explore more of this great country.
No place has ever inspired me or sparked my creativity like India did. Interacting with the people and and photographing their colorful, exuberant culture was one of the most moving experiences of my career thus far, though I believe that I've only scratched the surface. I have much more exploring and creating to do in India.
New Zealand had intrigued me for a number of years and having relatives with a beautiful home on the coast in the Northland, the invitation to visit was always on the table. In the winter of 2014 I made that travel dream a reality, spending three months touring both islands by bus, living with locals and working on farms and wineries along the way (WWOOF.co.nz). It didn’t take long to realize that the Kiwis enjoy a quality of life that, for the most part, is unmatched in the rest of the world.
Cambodia was the second country we visited in Southeast Asia in the fall of 2013. Our primary objective was exploring the temples of Angkor Wat in the north, which were fascinating to say the least. The capitol city of Phnom Penh was also very lively and the beaches of Sihanoukville were a wonderful side trip before heading over to India.
Thailand was the first stop on a two-month photographic journey through Southeast Asia and India in 2013. The lush, tropical beaches, spectacular Buddhist temples, spicy cuisine and kind-hearted people left a lasting impression on me, and a longing to return.
In July of 2015 I traveled to Lake Tahoe to photograph a wedding. While I was there, I spent most of my spare time hiking, exploring and capturing images of the lake and surrounding Sierra Nevada Mountains.
