October 2024 Namibia Tour

Namibia just celebrated 34 years of independence and remains one of the best functioning democracies in all of Africa. With an array of beautiful scenery and wildlife, coastline, vibrant culture and more, it is one of my favorite destinations in the world.

I look forward to returning to Namibia this October, where Mike and I will be leading another tour with Nat Expo Tours. We still have a few spaces open, if you or anyone you know might be interested. We’ve added a few days to the itinerary this year to include the Caprivi Strip of northern Namibia, Botswana, and Victoria Falls.

Dates are Oct 11-25, 2024. Cost is $7,895 per person and includes all transportation & lodging in Namibia and Botswana, breakfast & dinner every day, all locally guided tours & park fees, photographic instruction (for those who would like), and more!

Please contact me if you are interested or visit our site for more info and a detailed itinerary: https://natexpotours.com/2024-namibia/

Cheers!

Off to Namibia...

Today begins the long flight to southern Africa. I look forward to what Namibia has to offer this year, as well as my first visit to Kruger National Park, SA. This is our second tour of Namibia with Nat Expo Tours (https://natexpotours.com/) and we are already making reservations for next year's trip, which is going to include a visit to the famous Victoria Falls. Please message me if you are interested.

And it is official, I am sold out of my "Seasons of the Nature Center" 2024 calendars. 500 went pretty quickly, so I plan to print more 2025 calendars. Stay tuned for details...

Cheers!

Colin

PS - I still have "Seasons of the Nature Center" books available. All orders will be fulfilled when I return in November: https://www.colintyler.com/online-store...

Scenes from Arctic Norway

Scenes from our first Arctic Norway Adventure with Nat Expo Tours. Words don't aptly describe the topography, the culture expressed in the quaint Nordic architecture, and the scenery of Tromsø and the Lofoten Islands. It truly is one of the most beautiful places I've visited and I look forward to returning next year!

We've scheduled next year's Arctic Norway Adventure 🇳🇴 - dates are March 11-21, 2024. If you are interested in spending summer solstice in Iceland 🇮🇸 this year, we have a few spots open on that venture (June 19-28, 2023). We do have spaces in the October 2023 Namibia Tour 🇳🇦 as well (Oct 16-27. 2023). More details and itineraries on our website: www.natexpotours.com

It looks like the February 2024 Cuba Tour is full...🇨🇺

Be'ata Monastery, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

I'm changing up the theme today from wildlife & scenery to culture. I love exploring new destinations, meeting the people, becoming immersed in and photographing the local culture. Since my flight to Namibia took me through Ethiopia, on the way home I spent 4 days exploring the capital city, Addis Ababa.

Out for a stroll on my third morning, I met a local guide who took me to the Be'ata Monastery, one of the oldest Ethiopian Orthodox monasteries in Addis Ababa. Luckily, he was able to get us inside for a tour. The air was filled with incense, which added definition and contrast to the light shafts emanating through the stained glass. In the basement were tombs of royals - Emperor Menelik II (1844 - 1913) along with his wife and daughter. Menelik II is most revered for defeating the Italian army, thus preventing defending Ethiopia from being colonized. Among the artifacts were bibles so old they were written on goatskin, and what I believe I was told was an original da Vinci painting, though I have not been able to verify this or match it to any of his works. Since very few exist, it was likely a replica or da Vinci-inspired piece.

Hope you enjoy. I have more to share in the coming days, both wildlife and cultural images...

Namibian Independence Day

Namibia, one of Africa’s youngest countries and one of the continent’s best functioning democracies. Today marks 32 years since gaining their independence from South Africa. With a storied and at times, brutal history, it’s also a country with rich culture and a promising future. Roughly 40% of Namibia’s land is protected - land that is home to the world’s oldest desert, scenery that is otherworldly, and an array of wildlife that includes at least 50% of the world’s remaining black rhinos.

I look forward to returning to Namibia in October, and I am happy to say that our tour is now 100% full. I hope our guests will be inspired as much as I was on my first visit last year. For anyone interested in joining us, we will be starting a waitlist for 2023. Please contact me for more information, or visit our website: www.natexpotours.com

Himba Culture, Namibia

One of my favorite aspects of traveling to new destinations is meeting and photographing local cultures. I am primarily a wildlife photographer but opportunities like this are truly inspiring and fill me with gratitude.

Our October 2022 Namibia Tour will incorporate a cultural component as well, including a guided walk to ancient petroglyphs, touring a living museum of the Damara People, and visits to Himba villages. Details will be posted in the coming weeks at Nat Expo Tours
